BY expected to miss week 8 - BlackCatzFan - 10-20-2025 High ankle sprain, per Tom Pilessero, saw it on Facebook, per NFL. RE: BY expected to miss week 8 - OceanPanther - 10-20-2025 I was hoping he'd be able to go at 100%,, As the Panthers hope it's just one week, some feel it's more likely 2-4 weeks. I wanted him to play in games that matter ,, where we are simi competitive and not completely out of the playoff picture. I thought his performance Sunday against the Jets was just so so,. to not good I also won't be surprised if Andy Dalton doesn't throw for over 250 yds in an upcoming game. That could be good or bad. We are running the ball well for the last few weeks. And if Andy the gunslinger is throwing a lot we could be losing. Or the running game is working so well, and other teams are putting 8 in the box, then he could hit open receivers. With all that said I'd rather Bryce be getting these snaps that are important. I didn't think Andy looked great either. I think the word rusty was spoken often. RE: BY expected to miss week 8 - Ladypanther - 10-20-2025 I thought the offense looked flat Sunday. Flat this Sunday gets us killed. Can only hope that a week with the 1's helps Andy. After last week....I would hope that Canales makes Dowdle the main guy. A big running game is the only hope we have. Also...aren't high ankle sprains usually a 2-5 week recovery? RE: BY expected to miss week 8 - Hobbit99 - 10-20-2025 I think we finally got the Defense lined up going one direction and playing together (at least for now…). And YES, the Offense looked flat against the Jets. I’m not sure what BYs injury means although I don’t want to see anyone hurt. The season started off really rough for him, but really he’s shown resilience and ability to manage a game lately. That, along with some mobility is allowing him to continue playing. I think he will always be just an average NFL QB. He’s not “all that” and never will be. However, sometimes an OK ‘game manager’ is all you need. He doesn’t have a great arm, he’s not really accurate, and he’s not strong or tough. He IS relatively quick and can escape trouble (sometimes). So, there’s that… BTW, has anyone heard anything about Hendon Hooker.?? He’ll be backing up Dalton (apparently) if BY is out for awhile.

Plus, I just read this on Panthers.com: " As of now, Young is day-to-day. If he is unable to go, Andy Dalton would start against the Bills and take all the first team snaps in practice this week. Currently, Hendon Hooker is the practice squad passer. He will also be a part of the conversation around what to do with every quarterback position this week, including the backup spot. Absolutely. The way to do that is simple: Run, run, run the ball. The Bills (4-2) aren’t vulnerable in many places, but their run defense is their biggest Achilles heel. They rank 31st in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game, stacked between Miami and Dallas. If those two teams sound familiar, they should — Panthers running back Rico Dowdle lit them up for 473 combined total yards earlier this month. And, by the way, at least 70% of those handoffs should be to Dowdle. I’m all for Chuba Hubbard being worked back into the Panthers’ lineup, but let’s not pretend that the two players are equally effective at the moment. Hubbard can continue to start if Canales believes that is symbolically important, as he apparently does. But only one of these backs has a chance at a 100-yard plus rushing day on Sunday. That’s Dowdle. Read more at: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article312558647.html#storylink=cpy Scott Fowler in a rare positive moment. |
