Payroll - Firstchance - 06-18-2026 Panthers now have the 7th most expensive roster. Now do we even have a playoff team? Your thoughts. RE: Payroll - Hobbit99 - 06-18-2026 INTERESTING….? ![]() It seems as if this particular stat SHOULD sort of rotate between teams — and maybe it does..?? I would contend that as teams age out rookies and resign their higher quality players, their “payroll” will rise in comparison to teams that have more rookie players or veterans at ‘standard’ positions rather than “skill-position” players. A lot would depend on a team’s ’modus operandi’. ie: A team with a BIG payroll one year will have a smaller one several years later as big “names” move on and get replaced by rookies for the future. The teams that manage their roster better and develop a rotational system for replacements will tend to stay closer to the mean and fluctuate less. (I THINK - maybe - kinda-sorta ..???) RE: Payroll - Firstchance - 06-19-2026 Let me also throw another stat out there. Not that it makes any difference but because several times I have heard the reason/excuse that our Panthers are one of the youngest teams. The fact is our Panthers rank the 22nd youngest. So I guess we are closer to the oldest instead of closer to the youngest? RE: Payroll - Josh21 - 06-24-2026 We’ve got some older guys on contract. T-mo, MJ, Turk. Then some oldies n goodies in jj, Martin, n Moore. Cheap guys. Nick Scott also. Core young, depth, a lil experience. I like it. Also most expensive oline I believe! RE: Payroll - PantherFan007 - 06-25-2026 Looks like Mr. T (Tepper, not the real Mr. T lol) is going to have to dig into his personal payroll if he really wants to keep up with the Joneses. RE: Payroll - Firstchance - 07-05-2026 In quite a change from how the organization has operated in the past, the Carolina Panthers handed out the NFL's single-richest free-agent deal this offseason. But is it too rich? Well, that's the sentiment from Bleacher Report's Moe Moton—who recently named the league's highest-paid player at every position. Jaelan Phillips, Carolina's huge catch from the spring, headlines the edge rushers with his four-year, $120 million pact. RE: Payroll - Josh21 - 07-05-2026 No worries, watch the tape. Effective in pass n run. |
