I THINK Caldwell is mostly a behind the scenes “sounding board”. Useful for contacting players, asking questions, and keeping everyone in “context” when discussions are far ranging. (Probably) a big-picture guy used for insight and planning.
Idzik is —- well, an unknown quantity. I’m wondering if a team needs an Offensive Coordinator who doesn’t call plays…?? Especially if that team also has a Passing Game Coordinator and/or Run Game Coordinator. As a general concept, I’m not against a team utilizing additional coaches, especially because they don’t count against “roster limits” or affect cap space. So I have no problem with Idzik (in general) as long as there is no conflict internally …. but I still wonder what he does..???
Good questions, LP
Food for thought.
