EXTRA! - EXTRA! -- READ ALL ABOUT IT .......
Here is what I've been able to find out so far. There is not a lot of information available (YET...). I suspect we will hear more as the NFL gets involved deeper in this case.
** York was arrested in Ohio in an undercover 'sting' operation. Ohio.?? -- YES. Apparently York's family home is in Ohio and he lives there on an occasional basis. It's not unusual for him to travel back and forth between California and Ohio as he maintains residences in both locations.
** York responded to an advertisement on a known "prostitution" website. The advertisement was placed by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. The task force was supported by the East Palestine Police Department (Ohio).
** York responded to the advertisement by agreeing to pay $140 (WOW! - BIG spender!!) for 'sexual activity' with the expected female in the advertisement. His response is known and validated by records on his personal cell phone.
** York was arrested when he arrived at the agreed upon location at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community. York was arrested by the task force and taken into custody by the East Palestine PD. At the time of his arrest, York had his personal cell phone in his possession with the contact information and location still on it.
** York was charged at the time of his arrest with "Engaging in Prostitution" and "Possession of Criminal Tools". The 'criminal tools' charge was referring to his cell phone which was a 'tool' used for criminal purposes.
** York spent parts of two days in custody before he appeared in court. He was then released after paying a combined fine of $1150 and pleading No Contest (Guilty) to reduced charges. The penalty included the fine and two days in jail, one day for each charge. The jail time was concluded as "time served".
** York agreed to a plea bargain of "No Contest" in exchange for reducing the "prostitution" charge to "Disorderly Conduct". The "criminal tools" charge remained the same.
** This information was reported by ESPN and seconded by other agencies. EsPN received the information from Colombiana County court records and other public records.
** The Columbiana County prosecutor, Vito Abruzzino, commented that this type of 'plea bargain' was routine in this area. Abruzzino responded to ESPN's request for information by email, but refused to comment further than saying; "This was routine for someone facing those types of charges in our area, and not having a history of this type of criminal conduct in his past."
** The 49ers refused comment by saying; "As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time. York's attorney has not commented.
** The NFL released a statement saying the League "is aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy."
** According to public records filed in Santa Clara County (California) Superior Court, York filed for divorce from his wife Danielle back in May -- (assumedly 2026??). --- HE filed - Interesting.??
I suspect that we will continue to hear bits and pieces about this in the coming days, weeks, months. The NFL will 'investigate' and then do -- uhh, something.?? I imagine that nothing will really happen at 49ers level because even though York is a majority owner, the club is operated by a consortium of owners. I read somewhere that York at one time owned about 10% of the club. There are apparently a bunch of owners involved who actually control the club through a "Board". The last i read indicated that York was CEO, but obviously without a 50% majority his tenure as CEO could be VERY short-lived. I guess the NFL could divest him from his small percentage -- maybe..??
