Panthers agree to terms with Hunter Renfrow, place another receiver on IR

CHARLOTTE— The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with receiver Hunter Renfrow. The club plans to place second year receiver Jalen Coker on Injured Reserve with a quad injury, suffered in practice on Thursday.

The veteran Pro Bowler, Renfrow, spent the first five years of his career with the Raiders. He set out the 2024 season, learning to live with ulcerative colitis, but made a return this offseason with Panthers.

The South Carolina native and Clemson product spent the offseason with Carolina, through training camp, appearing in two preseason games.

If Coker begins the season on IR, he will remain there at least through the first four weeks of the season.

Panthers lucky 1) Raiders did not sign him 2) He was not so pissed off by being cut that he did  not blow us off.

Just read in The Athletic that he played a little hard ball (good for him)

Renfrow was set to make $1.3 million on his original deal. After getting cut, he wanted more of a commitment from Panthers. His new one-year contract is worth $2.25 million, with $2 million guaranteed and features incentives that could push it to $3M, a league source told The Athletic.

Good for him.  Nobody, especially a veteran player, wants to be jerked around like an undrafted rookie player.  Hope this works out for both parties.
