We need it.  If we don’t win the nfcs I’m ok.  If no sweeps us, eww.  Gotta beat the bucs 1, 2 times.  I hope we finish with 11 wins!  10 to nine is ok.  If we get in the playoffs, next year could b great.  I don’t expect, but hopefull.  We got some players, n a decent team.  Hope football is good in the future!

Recipe is simple. Run run run and run again and then allow Bryce to throw a ten yard play action pass. If we run and run well and if we stop the run we can win all four of the remaining games. Canales can’t expect Bryce to be anything other than what he is. Two work horses in Hubbard and Dowdle, use them and again the play action short passing game and we have a chance. Ugly football is not so ugly if you win. Important key is to not get behind.

Agreed.  And that also does something for Bryce; it opens up the defense for Bryce to catch them off guard like he did to the Rams last week.

Before the season started, many of us would have accepted 7-9 win as a huge success. I.n truth, after the last 6 years. It is.
But now we can actually smell what winning is. We have tasted it. We can still lay an egg, but I’ve seen growth.

I agree completely with FC and 007 ‘s assessments to run the ball .

It was the saints who embarrassed us when they put 9 in the box to stop the run ( and they did ) . But I’m believing that the staff, players will be prepared this week.

This division is ours for the taking.

I believe it's important for the Panthers to make a statement. All season long we've been a "hit or miss" team. Win TOUGH games. LOSE games we should dominate. That tells us two things.....First, the NFL is a bunch of teams all of which "seek", but few "find" and on any given day anything can happen. Second, the teams that are consistently good, rely on strength. Both physical strength and strength of character. There absolutely must be a readily apparent "desire to win".

With that said, the Panthers need to strike a healthy balance. But most of all they need to be the Panthers. There is no need to copy someone else. Doing what "they" do is not a winning approach. Just do what we do, and do it well. There is no need to be something we "ain't".  (More to follow..)

So.... Can the Panthers win the division.?? Absolutely.! Can the Panthers go on a 'run' in the playoffs.? Absolutely.! The question is not "can" the Panthers do something, but rather "will" they....  A certain percentage of this is on the coaching staff. But the vast majority of it relies on the players and their "desire to win". Will the Panthers succeed this year.?? -- Maybe..?? We have a chance as long as we don't try to be something we're not.

Here is a little something to set the tone for the rest of the year.....

Quote:"Don't You Be What You Ain't"  -- by Edwin Milton Royle

De sunflower ain't de daisy, and de melon ain't de rose.
Why is dey all so crazy to be sumpin' else dat grows?
Jes' stick to the place you's planted and do de bes' you knows.
Be de sunflower or de daisy, be de melon or de rose.

De song-thrush ain't de robin and de catbird ain't de jay.
Why is dey all a'throbbin' to outdo each other's lay?
Jes' sing de song God gave you and let your heart be gay.
Be de song-thrush or de robin, be de catbird or de jay.

chorus...

Doan't you be what you ain't. Jes' you be what you is.
Ef a man is what he isn't, den he isn't what he is.
Ef you's jes' a little tadpole, doan't you try to be de frog.
Ef you's jes' de tail, doan't you try to wag de dog.
Jes' pass de plate, ef you can't exhort and preach.
Ef you's jes' a little pebble, doan't you try to be de beach.
Ef a man is what he isn't, den he isn't what he am.
And as sure as I'm a-talkin' he isn't worth a damn.
Doan't you be what you ain't. Jes' you be what you is.
Ef a man is what he isn't, den he isn't what he is.
.....

NOTE: The spelling and the regional "tone" is all part of the original context (AFAIK).

Take note Panthers:  If a team is what it isn't, then it isn't what it is...

That assessment is spot on Ocean. That is actually what they dis last time, we didn’t block it well and yards per carry were horrible. We have to block and there must be a few 10 plus yard runs to get them
out of it. We also had the quick outs that #1 we didn’t use enough and #2 Bryce was inaccurate. That also needs to change. We break them down we walk away, we don’t and we carry or feeling and concerns away. IMO.

You know, Josh.... I'm not sure.  He was born in 1862 and died in NY in 1942. Most of his "famous" work was done in the early 1900s as you guessed. He was most famous as an American playwright, but also wrote prose. He published two novels (I think only two..??). Anyway, this little ditty came out of the fairly early 1900s for certain. He was born in Missouri and lived there as well as the northeast in Connecticut and New York. So, not particularly "southern" -- although exactly when and where he wrote this, I'm just not sure.

My copy was published in "The Best Loved Poems Of The American People" in 1936. So it was obviously written before that....
