AND THE CUTS HAVE STARTED....... Panthers Release Seven Players

Prior to the cuts deadline tomorrow.  Some of these guys will end up on the Practice Squad if they clear waivers.  Miles Davis is one I was hoping would make the roster, but that's a filled room at RB.


Panthers part ways with seven players in advance of roster deadline

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers parted ways with seven players on Saturday, the first of the moves to get to the 53-man limit by Sunday evening.

The team still has to reduce the roster by 31 more names before 6 p.m. Sunday to be at the limit.

Saturday, the team waived defensive tackle Kyon Barrs, wide receiver Elijah Cooks, running back Miles Davis, defensive tackle Tywone Malone, tight end Caden Prieskorn, and wide receiver Roc Taylor.

They also waived-injured veteran tackle Ryan Hayes, who didn't play in Friday's preseason finale.

They also released wide receiver Dan Chisena from injured reserve with an injury settlement.

Well —- we have until 6:00 PM tomorrow. There’s going to be some disappointed players looking for jobs. Just like every year, I guess. This won’t be an easy cut-down.!!

Never an easy decision however it is a must. All 32 teams need to make cuts to get to the 53-man roster.

Agreed on all points. Some of the guys getting cut are not going to be released because they didn't prove themselves, but it's just a matter of logistics. Remember that Jalen Coker was released as a rookie and we were fortunate enough to get him back to the practice squad and then back to the active roster.

I have been somewhat impressed by Miles Davis. I know production numbers are not high, but part of that is opportunity. I've watched a lot of his work recently. He has impressive speed (and quickness). I think he could be a good RB -- given an opportunity. Have to wait and see,,,,,

The dude is literally a speedster.  I've been impressed with him back prior to the Draft.
