I know there was another thread about the seven early "cuts" and roster decisions. Anyway, I thought it would be good to have all of the roster moves in one place as we get ready to play the regular season. So, I'll try to track the moves and keep this updated as we go. There could be "trades" involved, outright releases, NFI injuries, PUP, IR casualties, and potentially other surprises as well.
So here is a link to the Panthers official transactions. Rumors abound, but if it really happened, it should appear here. At some point, anyway.....
PANTHERS -- 'Official' transactions
The first seven 'cuts' were already announced (Eight really - but one doesn't really count because it was an IR transaction).
Waived
DT Kyon Barrs, WR Elijah Cooks, RB Miles Davis, DT Tywone Malone, TE Caden Prieskorn, WR Roc Taylor.
Waived-injured
OT Ryan Hayes.
Released
WR Dan Chisena from injured reserve (Injury settlement)
Should be noted that vested veterans do NOT have to go through waivers. Once released, they are free to negotiate....

"A Reasoned Response From A Reasonable Mind"
There is one hour left to go -- and still no further information about the roster. There is some speculation floating around, but nothing 'announced' as of yet.....
It occurs to me that the Panthers may be waiting to release ALL of the player names at one time. It's also possible that Dan may be working on a "deal" of some sort right up to the deadline. A trade..??? Possible.. OR ... A player swap or maybe a 'trade for a draft pick.?? Could happen..

Yeah, no new ones yet that I see.
Well... I sort of called it, I guess....
The Panthers have made a trade....
The Panthers get DT TeRah Edwards from the Chargers right before the cut-down. Part of the package is a 2028 6th round pick.... I'm sure we'll hear more about it as we move forward. I'm not sure how this will affect our 53 roster this year except that we have one more DT to account for..??
Panthers Pickup DT TeRah Edwards From Chargers
Well... The Panthers have finally broken the silence and made the announcement of the initial 53 roster. It's almost 8:00 PM and the deadline was 6:00 PM. So, I guess it took them that long to get the writers in gear so the website could be updated to reflect the current situation...
There are SEVERAL surprises on the roster (at least to me...).
Quote:CHARLOTTE — The Panthers made a series of moves Sunday to get to a 53-man roster.
To get to the regular season allotment, the Panthers waived the following players: cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson, cornerback Cam Miller, safety Demani Richardson, outside linebacker Isaiah Smith, linebacker Maz Mwansa, defensive tackle Parker Petersen, offensive lineman Isaia Glass, cornerback Devonta Smith, linebacker Maema Njongmeta, center Nick Samac, running back Tre Tyus, cornerback Corey Thornton, wide receiver Casey Washington, wide receiver Ja'seem Reed, linebacker Trevin Wallace, and defensive tackle Jared Harrison-Hunte.
They also released 10 vested veterans, including wide receiver David Moore, defensive tackle Elijah Garcia, offensive lineman Jake Curhan, cornerback Robert Rochell, safety Isaiah Simmons, and outside linebacker Cam Gill, offensive lineman Ja'Tyre Carter, quarterback Kyle Trask, tight end James Mitchell, and outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon.
Running back Trevor Etienne and linebacker Bam Martin-Scott were placed on injured reserve, the two spots they can use for players who can be designated to return during the season.
Cornerback Tyrek Funderburk was waived-injured.
The team also placed right tackle Taylor Moton on the reserve/non-football illness list, and left tackle Ikem Ekwonu and defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton on reserve/physically unable to perform.
That rules those three out for at least the first four games of the season, but players on those lists are eligible to return to practice after two weeks.
The Panthers also traded a 2028 sixth-round pick to the Chargers for defensive tackle TeRah Edwards.
With those moves, the Panthers are at the 53-man limit, and can establish a practice squad on Monday. That can be up to 16 players, plus an international player such as Mwansa, the English linebacker who spent last year on the practice squad as well.
Panthers dot Com - 53 Roster
So, that should wrap up the 53 roster for now. Keep in mind that this is an INITIAL roster and will change over the next couple of weeks. I expect the Panthers to pick up some rejects from other teams and a lot of our guys will be playing somewhere else as well.

Wondering how they are handling Okereke?

He's not on the roster because he hasn't signed a contract. We don't have to account for him at all until he signs. Right now, he is merely an "Agreed To Terms" guy. When he gets to Charlotte and signs, we will have to move someone to make room...

TeRah Edwards. A six rounder for a player that was undrafted and didn't play a down last year. And is small for a 3-4 DT. Dan Dan Dan?
The one that interests me is the new guy from the Chargers -- DT TeRah Edwards. I wonder what Dan saw in this guy that made him trade a draft pick. THAT is totally NOT like Dan..!!
