If I was Sanders, I would be seriously concerned for my job.

Week 1 Inactives vs. Chicago: Ja'Tavion Sanders out for Bears game

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers included tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders among their list of inactives for Sunday's regular season opener against the Bears.

They kept four tight ends up for the game, including newcomer Darren Waller, Tommy Tremble, Mitchell Evans, and Feleipe Franks. And with some injury issues forcing other moves, that left no room for the 2024 fourth-rounder.

The Panthers also deactivated wide receiver John Metchie III, keeping five up, including return man Jimmy Horn Jr. and special teamer Brycen Tremayne.

The rest of the list of inactive players included emergency third quarterback Haynes King, safety Zakee Wheatley, offensive tackle Albert Reese, outside linebacker Patrick Jones II, and defensive tackle Cam Jackson.

The Panthers also brought up two from the Practice Squad to the Active Roster:

Panthers promote two from the practice squad for opener

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added some depth for defense and special teams for Sunday's opener against the Bears.

The team brought up outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon and safety Isaiah Simmons from the practice squad by standard elevation.

Teams can promote up to two players from the practice squad each week, and they automatically revert to the practice squad following the game. Individual players can be elevated up to three times before they'd have to be signed to the 53-man roster to appear in another game.

Moon adds depth at outside linebacker, where the Panthers have already ruled out Patrick Jones II because of a back injury, after losing Nic Scourton during training camp to a season-ending knee injury.

He'll join Jaelan Phillips, Princely Umanmielen, Trevis Gipson, and Thomas Incoom in the rotation there.

Simmons is one of the team's top special teams players, who was caught in a numbers game when the team kept three quarterbacks and five tight ends on the opening-week roster.

I can't wait to see Lee Hunter on the field today. He's hard not to like. Such a huge body and personality all rolled into one!

When Sanders was moved to 3rd on the depth chart he should have started  working to get out of his lease.

He has never been the same since the neck injury.
