CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added an experienced player on defense Tuesday.

The team signed veteran linebacker Tyrel Dodson off the practice squad, and waived wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr.

The 28-year-old Dodson has 43 career starts and has appeared in 92 games with Buffalo, Miami, and Seattle. He was signed by the Bills as an undrafted rookie from Texas A&M when Panthers general manager Dan Morgan was on staff there.

Horn, a sixth-rounder last year, served as the primary returner Sunday, but muffed a punt in the loss to the Bears.

That muffed punt was pretty ugly.  Seems like there was another time he nearly mishandled, or nearly fumbled.  Not a new issue for him either. Had his chance.

From a business perspective this doesn't surprise me (okay, I lied, it surprised me!). He might make it back to the practice squad, but best wishes if he doesn't.

Panthers.com states that the team "considered re-signing Jimmy Horn", but "he chose to sign with the Cleveland Browns practice squad".

Well ..... It IS what it IS....

We'll see how it works out in Cleveland. They'd mortgage the bank to PAY THE MAN if he was a QB..!! Oh wait -- that's right, he's NOT a QB. Can't throw the ball, and can't really catch the ball either.  

Hmmm ... wonder why the Browns wanted him.??
