Really an unimpressive group out there.  I guess I could dig deeper, but on the surface I'm not too thrilled with this year's crop of UFAs.  WR is an area where a FA pickup would provide immediate help.  Mike Wallace, perhaps?  A lot of the guys out there are getting on up in age too.  After looking at what's potentially available to the Panthers, I'm convinced more than ever that this has to be a really solid draft.

Jimmy Graham would be an exciting addition.

I'm not so sure I would like Graham. I want a younger TE that can block and that Olsen can groom.

No to Graham. Need a younger guy to groom. Agreed on blocking.

We don't need competition for Olsen. We need a #2 that has good hands and that can block.!!  Not a Graham fan at all.....

Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is a UFA coming off IR from ankle surgery earlier this season. He has good size (6'1, 230 lbs) and can get into the endzone.

Ravens' TE Crockett Gillmore is a young guy with great size (6'6, 266 lbs) and strength who would be a good fit and probably at a great price.

I actually like Crockett Gilmore.... He has underperformed a little I think compared to his natural ability, but I put that on the team and the coaching.  This guy could very easily be the NEXT Olsen....

And I MEAN that.... Seriously.!!   His ONLY area that might be a little weak is YAC... He seems to lose balance easily after contact, although he usually hangs tough. Good speed though for a big tough guy.

I don't want competition for Olsen, I want a compliment to him.  Cam flourished the year he had Olsen and Jeremy Shocky.  Sorry, I like Ed Dickson, but he's never going to be more than he is right now, a decent handed TE who specializes in blocking.  I am personally tired of trying to develop these no-name guys like Manhertz, Simonson, Brandon Williams (former player) so forth and so on.

Couldn't agree more 45....why not bring in a guy (FA/Draft) who you can utilize along with Greg and if they are young they can learn from him.

Guess we need to wait and see what sort of offense Turner plans on installing and the personnel he will need to run it.  Same with the D, I don't expect a lot of changes with Wilks headed to greener pastures, but they might make a change or two

We won't know that for sure until the next season what the offense will look like, BUT we have a good idea.  I would still like to go offense 3 out of the first four picks.  At the very least TE and WR in rounds one and two, with a DE in round three.   I'm still not liking what is out there in FA.

Cat are you not liking overall or just the DE position. Personally, I think outside of DE there is plenty of talent and a lot of under the radar scores.

There are a lot of big names out there, but many are on the back side of their careers.  Based on name recognition alone...there's a ton of guys.  I'm wanting to build young.  Then you have the unknowns and unprovens.  Not too many of the four-year guys looking for their first FA deal which have proved themselves out there. The Panthers will probably bring in anywhere from 2-4 unrestricted free agents from other clubs.  Just don't expect anybody with superstar credentials.  It will be a relatively unknown guys, IMO.  With our cap situation being as tight as it is and a few of our own to lock up still, nothing will be left but some fuzz and bits of lent in the bottom of the organization's purse.

I agree and would prefer that myself. I would rather our foundation be built through the draft ( a lucky udfa here and there) and up and coming FA's, not "stars". But I think there are several up and comers in most positions this year. For example I think a guy like Brice Butler, would be great in a Norv system and while he won't be cheap cheap he won't be breaking the bank by any means.

I love the high upside young guys, as long as we have a great core group. We do IMO!
